It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved member of the Little Flower family, honorary Board member, Reverend Monsignor R. Emmet Fagan, who passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016.
Father Emmet was not only a long time Little Flower Board member but a champion for Little Flower’s mission to create opportunities to turn lives around. The beloved younger brother of Msgr. John T. Fagan, he was very dedicated to Little Flower and was instrumental in paving the way for causes and new initiatives across Long Island including: Long Island’s first Big Brothers for kids from broken homes, creating a home for unwed mothers, building networks of different religious communities to work together to establish residences for developmentally disabled adults, offering Mass for the residents on our campus in Wading River, assisting with dedication ceremonies and Mass on many occasions over the years for our donors and helping us celebrate our mission and history at a variety of agency events.
“We have lost a great friend, a great and kind man who touched so many. He dedicated his entire life to the service and well-being of others. He will be missed by all and remembered for his genuine kind character. May he rest in eternal peace,” said Keith Fell, immediate past President of the Little Flower Board of Directors.
Father Emmet’s lifelong work helping those in need, his selflessness, commitment and inspiring humility were some of the reasons that Little Flower honored him in 2013 with the Msgr. John T. Fagan Humanitarian Award. “Msgr. Emmet was a remarkable Priest, Social Worker and friend to so many. He rests now with cherished family members,” said retired Executive Director, Grace G. Lo Grande.
Corinne Hammons, Little Flower Executive Director stated, “We are fortunate to have had Fr. Emmet’s wisdom and guidance over the years and he will be sorely missed by our staff and Board. Our deepest and sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends from the whole Little Flower family.”
He will be missed dearly!
