Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York Welcomes New Chief Financial Officer
January 3, 2023 – WADING RIVER, NY—Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York (Little Flower), a 93-year-old social services organization supporting children, youth, families and individuals with developmental disabilities across New York and Long Island, welcomed Matthew Bredes, CPA, to the senior executive team as the organization’s new Chief Financial Officer.
“I am so impressed with Matthew’s technical skills and his collaborative spirit, which combined will have a positive impact on the organization, our employees, and mostly importantly, those we serve through our mission,” said President and Chief Executive Officer Corinne Hammons.
In his role, Bredes will oversee the fiscal operations of Little Flower and St. John’s Residence for Boys, its affiliated organization. In addition, he will oversee the Information Technology and Services and Facilities teams. He will serve as the key financial advisor to the president and CEO and the boards of directors of the affiliated organizations, and he will collaborate with his peers on the Senior Executive Council.
Bredes will be accountable for financial functions, including financial monitoring and oversight and budget preparation and monitoring. He will leverage his expertise to balance present needs with future planning. “We are excited that Matthew has joined the Little Flower team, said Board Chair Howard Nolan. “We look forward to his leadership and guidance to assist with the Agency’s future growth and financial sustainability.”

Before joining Little Flower, Bredes served as the audit director for the international accounting firm BDO USA, LLP. In this role, he directed and managed local audit teams and provided guidance to regional nonprofit healthcare engagement teams. Bredes had been a loyal employee of BDO for 16 years before moving on to join the Little Flower team. Bredes is a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, where he received his Bachelor of Science in accounting and fraud examination. He is a certified public accountant.
